I love the beauty of ancient Asian designs. Sometimes I am challenged to render a likeness of an ancient silk, to see if I can imitate the wonderful flow and tension depicted in the composition. For this painting, I manipulated a faux finish background, before sketching and painting the birds and boughs on top of it. This was a thoroughly enjoyable endeavor !
