Solitary Station by Kathi Dugan
Aligned at intervals all along Miami Beach, a variety of very colorful life guard stations are positioned. They stand erect as modern watchtowers between the sands, grasses, sea and the outside world. As I strolled along the pedestrian walk path that runs parallel to the ocean, the solitary appearance of this station caught my eye. Not a person was in sight; the usual teeming beach was quiet. Out came my camera; I quickly captured a reference photo. Once back home in Massachusetts, the photo was transformed into a painting.
