Let's Party by Kathi Dugan
This painting was doubly inspired, first by a collection of silk scarves, each with multi colored stripes running through them and secondly, by the sparkling beauty of a geode. My original intent was to include the layers of crystallized minerals found on the inside of geodes, mimicking the pattern of the stripes. However, the flow of multi colored stripes turned out to be busy enough and the geode forms looked amazingly bright and "happy" in their early stage. I decided to leave the "geodes" as they were.
The movement of the stripes and the bright placement of the Geodes (or are they imperfect jelly beans?) appeared to me as a joyous dance, a good time, and thus I named the painting, "Let's Party!"
The original painting is available. If you are interested, please speak to the artist.
Acrylic on canvas.
